9 Tips On How To Declutter Your Mind And Find Clarity For Moms

Have you ever felt like you are overwhelmed, stressed, and have a million thoughts trying to compete for your attention?

My guess isyep

As a mom, you’ve probably got so many things to do and keep up withI hear you!

Well, keep reading because, in this article, I share my top tips on how to declutter your mind and find inner peace and clarity.

Great Ways To Declutter Your Mind

Here are my top tips on how to reduce mind clutter, and negative thoughts, whilst reducing anxiety.

1. Understand Your Goals

Define what your main goal is. Without knowing what you’re aiming for, you’ll never reach it.

Do you need to find clarity? Or simply destress? What is your biggest priority? If you’re experiencing brain fog, which clouds clarity and judgment, it can be really helpful to journal to sift through the unnecessary thoughts and separate them from your important goals.

2. Brain Dump

When you’re feeling stressed and overwhelmed, it really helps to simply jot down all your thoughts. This helps to get them out of your head so that you can sort through what’s a priority, and what isn’t.

I like to set a timer for 5-10 minutes and write it all out. Work out what notes you can take action on, and then put them into your planner or calendar so that you can cross them off your list.

    3. Be Consistent With Good Habits

Good habits can really help to prevent ongoing and long-term stress due to poor habits.

Be consistent with good habits and routine, so that you can live in peace irrespective of what’s going on in your life.

    4. Find Ways To Destress

Taking care of your wellness can help you to destress and find clarity. Taking time for yourself is a great way to create some mental space.

    5. Ask For Help

There isn’t any shame in asking for helpin factyou deserve help!

Can you lean on family and friends to help you take some things off your to-do list? Make sure you’re taking care of your mental health and ask for help whenever you can. Don’t try to ‘do it all’ alone because you’ll end up stressing yourself out and feeling burnt out!

    6. Practice Mindfulness Meditation

Mindful meditation is a great way to learn to overcome mental clutter and be present. If you’re a beginner at meditation, then try some free guided breathing meditations on YouTube. Taking 10 minutes every morning to silence your mind and breath is a great way to start the day.

A clinical journal on meditation found that daily meditation improves mood, emotional regulation, attention, focus, and memory.¹

    7. Positive Affirmations

If you find yourself overcome with intrusive thoughts, then having some positive affirmations on hand can really help. When you’re feeling good, write down positive thoughts, positive affirmations, and positive reminders, so that when you’re overcome with negative feelings or brain clutter, you have an anchor to bring you back to your happy place.

    8. Deep Clean Your House

Deep clean your house and remove any physical clutter. It’s hard to overcome a cluttered mind when you don’t have a clutter-free home. Every year you should take the time to do a deep clean and get rid of things that you no longer need.

    9. Get Good Rest And Sleep

Getting good rest and sleep is vital for mental clarity. During sleep your mind processes information. You’ll often find that if you journal and think about different resolutions to a problem and then sleep on itin the morning you often have a clear mind and your solution.

A clinical journal on sleep found that memories are reactivated during sleep and that this might help to problem-solve, improve solution insight, and memory consolidation.²
