What Is A Daily Affirmation?
A daily affirmation is a phrase, statement, or sentence that helps to encourage positive thoughts, positive thinking, and mental self-care.
A clinical study by Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience notes that affirmations can help to decrease stress, improve general well-being, and help people to be more open-minded and susceptible to changes in behavior.¹
Whilst another medical journal by the Annual Review of Psychology notes that self-affirmations can help to improve both health and relationship outcomes.²
Do Affirmations Help Anxiety?
Yes, affirmations can help anxiety. A factor that can affect anxiety is overthinking and also negative self-talk. Affirmations can help because they can interrupt your negative self-talk with positive statements to remind you of positive thoughts instead.

5 Tips For Positive Affirmations For Moms
Positive affirmations might seem like a no-brainer, and mostly—they are. However, there are some really good tips to help you use them with the highest chance of success.
1. Keep Them In An Accessible Place For A Daily Ritual
There’s no point in having positive affirmations if you never use them, or worse—forget they even exist. We’ve all been there. You download something cool, and then never ever look at it again.
You want to make sure that your positive affirmations are accessible, and in some cases, it helps to trick yourself into looking at them or using them.
It’s best to create a daily ritual with your affirmations. This doesn’t mean that you need to say the same one daily. But if you have a ritual of when you say your affirmations, you’re much more likely to regularly use them, and therefore benefit from them.
For example, you might want to keep a positive affirmation written on a post-it note and on the bathroom mirror so that you read out your positive note every morning and night after brushing your teeth.
Or perhaps, you want to keep a small journal of affirmations on your bedside table so that you can choose a different one each day to say in the morning and night.
Whatever you choose, make good choices with placement to ensure that the positive affirmation recital becomes part of your daily ritual. Because you can’t benefit from something that you don’t use.
2. Have Some Affirmations Written Down For Ease And Speed
There are a variety of different affirmations all over the internet, but I find it best to have a saved collection for ease.
Whether this is a Pinterest board of affirmations that you like, a journal filled with relevant affirmations, or even a camera roll album on your phone of saved affirmation photos.
If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, the last thing that you want to do is try to find an appropriate affirmation in the midst of mental chaos. You simply need your affirmations close to hand to help you switch to a positive attitude as soon as possible.
3. Have A Variety Of Affirmations For Different Scenarios And Emotions
We all go through a series of different emotions, and have different tendencies. Be honest with yourself about your common experiences so that you can prepare for them. For example, do you commonly feel mom guilt? Or have a negative body image? What negative things, or recurring negative thought, does your mind tell you?
It might feel quite uncomfortable to think about your mental goblins and demons, but it’s really vital so you can prepare to offset them with positive thoughts through your affirmations.
For example, if you commonly find yourself saying that you’re a ‘bad mom’. You can be prepared by having a set of affirmations that remind you that you’re a great mom, that you’re doing the best you can, and that your kids love and need you.
4. Use Them In Different Ways
Be creative with how you choose to use your affirmations. This might take some practice and it also might be quite uncomfortable to start, but it’s really effective to use your affirmations in different ways.
You can read affirmations in your head but it also helps to say them out loud. It can also be really powerful to look in the mirror as you say them too. This works especially well if your affirmation ritual is to say them in the bathroom morning and night anyhow.
Some women also like to write theirs down, because there is powerful intention in writing. It’s almost like casting a spell out into the universe!
And you can get a variety of affirmation audios, on podcasts and YouTube too. You could also easily create your own audio recording using the audio record function on your smartphone.
However you choose to use your daily affirmations, be intentional and active with your rituals to help manifest positive thinking and a positive mindset through their regular use.
5. Update Your Affirmations Regularly
We all go through different seasons in life, so your affirmations will need to shift depending on your needs.
Regularly evaluate your affirmations to check if they still suit your current needs, and if they don’t be sure to fill in the gaps with your current requirements for good mental health and positive thinking.
6. Don’t Be Afraid To Tailor Your Affirmations Or Create Your Own
Don’t be afraid to get creative with your affirmations by creating your own! You can use other affirmations such as my 30 free printable positive affirmations for moms as a starting point or guide. And then tailor them for your own use.
This ensures that you can choose a variety of words that have a positive effect on your subconscious mind.
7. Create A Self Care Routine With Affirmations
Creating a self-care routine around affirmations is a great way to engage in some self-love and kindness.
Yes, mom life is busy! But, being a good mom does involve taking intentional time for yourself. See if someone can watch your children on a regular basis so that you can engage in some ‘me time’.
Perhaps you like putting on a face mask and reading your affirmations from your journal, or maybe you like to meditate and listen to an affirmation audio recording.
Combining some time for yourself with affirmations and positive self-talk is a great way to melt the stress away, and bring some happiness and positivity into your day!
